What a Day!

83 people..................Yea!     Who would a thought?

After months of invitations to potential new prospectors, they all came the same day.

It was overwhelming to say the least.  Weather it was cabin fever or just the desire to finally take advantage of an opportunity to make one of our "Gold Show" Demonstrations, we may never know; but, together we welcomed them all with friendship and "good ole southern hospitality".

Thanks to all the fine help of our regular member, the day couldn't have been better.   Members kept busy in their own area of talents as host and hostess' greeting our visitors and introducing them to an enormous amount of education through demonstrations.

All members and visitors thoroughly enjoyed a day in the SUN as they learned many valuable techniques in prospecting.

Meanwhile, faithful "Camp Cooks", Linda Bass and Shirley Chappell, prepared a hearty lunch with a menu of Hot Dogs, BBQ and all the fixings including desserts to make your mouth water.

We were honored to have 3 members of the GPAA Slate Belt Chapter  (Aberdeen, NC) join us for the day.

Other gold and treasure seekers came from Greensboro, Lexington, Cleveland, Huntersville, Charlotte, Indian Trail, Waxhaw, Wesley Chapel, NC and Rock Hill & Merrill’s Inlet, SC.

As some members and visitors emerged into the creek with gear and pan in hand, they excitedly began exploring the creek bed for Gold. A good day’s findings including one nice nugget found by James Sorrell made the "creek" excursion quite fascinating.

While some took to the creeks for their days wages, others worked the high-bankers at the pond and panned in homemade troughs for their gold.

Potential new members found more than gold, they found the meaning of "gold fever" as they separated the black sand from the gold in pans of excitement each time they retrieved a piece of gold.

Glenn and I thank each one of you all for your loyal support and exceptional help which contributes to the success of the event.

 Thank You!

 Glenn & Phyllis
