Matthews, North Carolina

Welcome to “GPAA-Matthews!"
An affiliate of  the Gold Prospectors Association of America, we are proud to call North Carolina home. Although prospectors caught gold-fever and began journeying west during the California gold rush,  the nation's first documented discovery of gold occurred here in a small town just east of Charlotte. (Midland, NC - Reed Mine)

Today, modern day prospectors still seek hidden treasures in the cool running streams of our mountains, in the red clay of our foothills, or by sifting through the black sands found across our state. We are actively uncovering earthly treasures of gold, copper, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and more. Yes; they are all here for the taking.
